One of the perks of being a writer is that I get exposed to a variety of different topics. I doubt that I ever would have even heard about spartan racing if it wasn’t for someone purchasing an article based on the topic.
I popped up a YouTube video of it and felt a thrill of excitement. I don’t love running, but there’s a tiny part of me that still loves swinging on monkey bars and climbing trees. Spartan racing called to that part of me, and so like a little girl I shrieked to my husband, “Look at this!”
He popped his head in and agreed it was totally awesome. My son peaked in and wanted to try it too! And that’s when I decided that yes, I was totally going to do a Spartan race.
Never mind I was 8.5 months pregnant at the time I decided this and definitely not going any faster than a slow waddle at that time. I kept thinking about it and talking about it for weeks after I saw the video, and then finally decided that I was just going to go ahead and do it.
December 1st I commited to the race by purchasing my ticket, and am now working hard to train for the race. I’ll be posting updates as I struggle to run and practice for the obstacles, so feel free to follow along!
