After the loss of our daughter, it became more important than ever for me to be able to stay home with our son, and any future children we may have. Working from home is a passion many parents have, but it can be a difficult one to manage if your day job doesn’t allow for it.
I’ve always had a strong background in writing, so it seemed natural to me that I go back to it and write for a living. I’m lucky in that I have a very strong writing voice, and that I have a lot of experience in the writing world. Still, I never expected Fiverr to give me such a great return for my efforts.
I joined Fiverr in September of 2017. I set up a little gig offering 500 word articles for $5, and asked for another $5 for every 500 words there after. I expected it to be like most other money making websites I’ve been on, and that I’d get either very little work for my pains, or a lot of work and not much money.
I got a lot of work right away. Two clients immediately asked if I could do web content, and began sending me $1o-$20 worth of work at a time. They loved my work, and their repeated 5 star reviews lead me to more clients and more jobs. Soon I was balancing $40-$50 worth of work every evening with a family and a full-time job.
I banked that money, so that when the money that I made overtook how much I made at my “real” job, I’d have enough to take care of any lulls in the business. Fiverr never did become a complete replacement for my day job. I use e-books and other methods of earning income, such as the money made from commissions on this blog. (Thanks, good readers!) to supplement and support or family, but it has made a significant positive impact on me.
I share this because if you are interested in earning money from writing, Fiverr is a fantastic way to do so. I know there are a lot of moms and dads out there who want to be able to be with their children, and one of the great points about Fiverr is you can totally write out articles while at the park or waiting for your kids in the school pick-up line. The flexibility really makes up for the drawbacks. (Coming up with 1,000 words on eyelash extensions with no clear idea of what direction the customer wants you to go in…a definite drawback.)
If you want to make money from your writing, have strong writing skills, and aren’t too particularly picky about what you write about, Fiverr may be the right choice for you. Give it a try today!
Disclaimer: I receive a commission if you sign up through my link and happen to purchase something on fiverr. While we will have another article at a later date for all the awesome stuff you can get on fiverr, this article is focused on using it to sell on fiverr, which I don’t receive commission for. Either way, use the link if you want or just go directly to Fiverr and sign up. 🙂
